The 2025 UVI basketball, track, and cross-country teams preview a season built on unity, mindset, and determination.
(STT. September 15, 2025). The UVI community showed up last Friday to get a first look at our sports teams, and the energy in the gym made it clear that this season will be one to remember. Students, families, and fans packed the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center. The crowd was excited, the coaches were excited, and the athletes were waiting to show what’s ahead.
The boys’ basketball coach put it plainly: “They don’t just wanna play, they wanna learn. This is a team, and I know for a fact, given the right opportunity, they will bring a big win home.” His confidence made it clear that his players are stepping onto the court with more than just talent. They’re carrying determination.

The girls’ basketball coach brought the same energy, and reminded everyone what it takes to build a winning culture. “It takes a championship mindset. You have to be around winners to be a winner—and we are all winning. I can’t thank y’all enough. Shoutout to y’all.”

Beyond basketball, the cross-country and track teams were also introduced, showing off the talent across UVI athletics. With over 10 new transfer athletes this year, the rosters are stacked. Between basketball, track, and cross-country, fans didn’t just meet athletes, they saw a glimpse of the season to come.
Now, the countdown is on for Bucks Madness on October 3. If the noise in the gym was any sign, UVI athletes aren’t just ready to show up, play, and win. They’re ready to make a statement.
